What Worked For Me:
I’m going to try to write this without any spoilers, so bear with me as I try to word this without giving away any details.
Brace yourself….this book is dark! It is romantic and has a happily ever after but the path to reach that point is paved with heartbreak and sadness for both our hero and heroine. Dover, our hero is a bona-fide badass. He was once a cop who didn’t like the way justice being served and how cops were turning their backs on what was right. He decides to leave it all behind and joins the Devil’s Due MC to dole out his own brand of justice, with a band of brothers who share his same beliefs. His past is so sad that I had to stop reading for a few minutes. It is tragic in ways that will make you cringe and get very angry on his behalf. And while following a lead that will hopefully help him find justice for someone he lost so long ago he is lead right to the steps of the very last person he ever expected to see…our heroine, Emerson. The tragedy that changed their lives forever once again draws them together except now Emerson is all grown up and she has changed. Dover notices this change and he wants her desperately. Emerson is fierce and guarded. She lives by her own rules and wants freedom more than anything else. Freedom to be and do whatever she feels like doing. The chemistry between these two is explosive! Immediately they are attracted to each other and they do not even try to fight it. The sex scenes, though infrequent, are sensational. Dover takes dirty talking to a whole new level!!! These two have been floating through life, their lives incomplete because of a crime and together they become whole. It was beautiful to read in the middle of so much chaos. The brothers in the MC make for some great banter and some pretty funny moments. I am excited to read their stories. There is a great plot, plenty of action and suspense, and some bad guys so evil, you can’t even imagine how despicable they are in your worst nightmares. This is a gritty and raw read, full of twisted emotion and deep passion. Chelsea Camaron is a new author for me but I look forward to reading more books by her.
What Didn’t Work For Me:
While this story had a darker spin than I normally like, the author writes so eloquently, I actually didn’t mind the tone of the book.
Would I Recommend This Book:
Yes….especially to my reader friends who like MC romances, angsty romances, and dark romances.
