A small, accidental fire sparks a coping method she’d never expected, and brings an amazing man to her door.

Firefighter Cade “Sledge” Turner’s idyllic life ended the day his sister was kidnapped. Now he knows firsthand that tragedy can befall anyone, at any time. Meeting Elizabeth on the job was a gift. Cade can envision spending his life with this woman. He understands what she’s been through, is willing to help her heal…though even Cade is unaware of Beth’s new secret obsession.

As Beth takes steps to help herself heal, and Cade attempts to earn her trust and prove his own, they’re both about to be tested—in a way that could see everything they’ve worked for go up in flames.

* Shelter for Elizabeth is the 5th book in the Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

A story of enduring love as romance goes all wrong and Emily Montgomery struggles to rebuild her life after a terrible accident changes everything.

Emily wants romance in her life—the kind of romance that leads to a perfect marriage. She dreams of having a husband who loves her and treats her with respect, someone she can spend the rest of her life with. She meets—and marries—Steven Montgomery, hoping he will make all of those things come true.

Everything is wonderful, at first; until things start to slowly change. Steven begins to mentally, verbally, and physically abuse Emily. Through it all, Emily tries to be the best wife she can be.

Finally, after so much devastation, Emily leaves Steven, files for divorce, and moves on with her life. Her sister, Monica, introduces her to a wonderful man named Robert. Emily falls in love with him. He is kind, gentle and sweet—all things now missing from her marriage. She is happy, in love again, and well on her way to divorcing Steven.

But, Steven doesn’t want the divorce; and, since he is a savvy lawyer, he tries everything to prevent it. Although Emily still has residual feelings for Steven, she knows that it couldnever work between them. She wants to move on with the new love of her life, Robert.

After a horrific accident, Emily can no longer remember Robert and all the things he has meant to her, and she can no longer rememberall the horrific things Steven has done to her.

Emily has two men professing their love for her. She is confused; she doesn’t know where she belongs or who she should be with. And, she has a hard time deciding who to choose. Emily is being pulled in several different directions by her loved ones. They all mean well, but only Emily knows how she truly feels. She has to decide, on her own, what to do.
All Emily wants is to start over, but that isn’t so easy, since everything in her world is broken, and she isn’t sure how to fix it. All Emily wants is to be happy, healthy, and whole again, but that may not be in the cards for her, either.

What inspired you to write your book?  I had the idea for my book roaming around in my head for years.  When I was growing up I would get different ideas in my head for a book or movie. One of the ideas I had was about a woman going through a messy divorce and losing her memory but only remembering the good years she shared with her husband. Since he claimed he had changed and she could only remember the good in him she had to decide if she was willing to give him a second chance.

Do you have a specific writing style?  I usually write down all of my ideas on paper and then just jump in and start writing the story.  Once I’m well into the story –which would be a couple of chapters in I try to make an outline.  That way I can have some sort of idea where the story will end up as I’m writing.

How did you come up with the title?  Funny but the working title was called Forgotten because I wanted to show that Emily has forgotten all of the bad things her husband has done to her and forgotten her new boyfriend, Robert because of her memory loss.  But as time went on I wanted more of a sad romantic type title.  That’s when I came up with I Wish I Could Remember You.

Do you have any advice for other writers?  My advice is if you love to write you should write as much as possible. Even if you never make any money from your writing, if your proud of it or if one person likes it that makes it all worth it.

What books/authors have influenced your writing?  One of my favorite authors is Nicholas Sparks. When I read his novels I always get emotionally involved.  I’ve shed a few tears reading his novels, and that’s the kind of reaction I would like my novels to get when people read them.  I love novels where I want to jump to the end to see what happens but I don’t because that would ruin the story for me.

What genre do you consider your books?  I write fiction novels.  My first novel is Contemporary Women’s Romance. I also write Young Adult Fantasy and Dystopian.

Do you ever experience writers block?  Yes, I experience writers block sometimes, when that happens I listen to music.  Sometimes music brings ideas flowing to my brain.  I’m not sure why but it does.

Have you ever hated something you wrote?   Yes, I’ve written scenes that I’ve hated so I keep rewriting the scenes until I feel better about them.  I have even gotten rid of entire scenes and started over from scratch.

Where did your love of writing come from?  When I was a child I day dreamed a lot and I had an active imagination.  So I think it started when I was a child. I loved to dream up new worlds and new people and as I grew up I liked to write about them.

Do you write every single day?  I try to write every day. It’s not always easy because sometimes time is limited. Some days I can get a lot written and other days a little.  But as long as I can write down a few words here and there each day I can get my writing goals completed.

Which writers inspire you?  I like Nicholas Sparks, Danielle Steel, J.K. Rowling, Susan Mallery, and Suzanne Collins.

What are you working on at the minute?  I’m finishing up a Young Adult Fantasy-Dystopian novel I’ve been working on.  It should be released in a few months.

What is your favorite theme/genre to write about?   I have two favorites.   I love to write Contemporary Women’s Fiction and I also like to write Fantasy as well.

What is your latest book about?  My latest book is about a woman named Emily. She in her thirties and is going through a terrible divorce.  Her husband, Steven is abusive and controlling and he doesn’t want the divorce.  Emily is trying to move on with her life and during her separation she meets someone new named, Robert.  Before the divorce can take place Emily is in a terrible accident that robs her of some of her short-term memories. She can only remember the good times with her soon to be ex-husband not the bad, and she cannot remember Robert at all.  Both men profess their love for her and she has to decide who she wants to be with. Will she choose the man who claims he has changed even though she has heard about the terrible things he has done to her from her sister, but can’t remember? Or will she choose the man she’s been told she’s in love with now but can’t remember him at all.

What Worked For Me:

I’m going to try to write this without any spoilers, so bear with me as I try to word this without giving away any details.

Brace yourself….this book is dark!  It is romantic and has a happily ever after but the path to reach that point is paved with heartbreak and sadness for both our hero and heroine.  Dover, our hero is a bona-fide badass.  He was once a cop who didn’t like the way justice being served and how cops were turning their backs on what was right.  He decides to leave it all behind and joins the Devil’s Due MC to dole out his own brand of justice, with a band of brothers who share his same beliefs.  His past is so sad that I had to stop reading for a few minutes.  It is tragic in ways that will make you cringe and get very angry on his behalf.  And while following a lead that will hopefully help him find justice for someone he lost so long ago he is lead right to the steps of the very last person he ever expected to see…our heroine, Emerson.  The tragedy that changed their lives forever once again draws them together except now Emerson is all grown up and she has changed.  Dover notices this change and he wants her desperately.  Emerson is fierce and guarded.  She lives by her own rules and wants freedom more than anything else.  Freedom to be and do whatever she feels like doing.   The chemistry between these two is explosive!  Immediately they are attracted to each other and they do not even try to fight it.  The sex scenes, though infrequent, are sensational.  Dover takes dirty talking to a whole new level!!!   These two have been floating through life, their lives incomplete because of a crime and together they become whole.  It was beautiful to read in the middle of so much chaos.  The brothers in the MC make for some great banter and some pretty funny moments.  I am excited to read their stories.  There is a great plot, plenty of action and suspense, and some bad guys so evil, you can’t even imagine how despicable they are in your worst nightmares.  This is a gritty and raw read, full of twisted emotion and deep passion.  Chelsea Camaron is a new author for me but I look forward to reading more books by her.

What Didn’t Work For Me:

While this story had a darker spin than I normally like, the author writes so eloquently, I actually didn’t mind the tone of the book.

Would I Recommend This Book:

Yes….especially to my reader friends who like MC romances, angsty romances, and dark romances.

Final Star Rating:

5 stars

Sarah Cass’ world is regularly turned upside down by her three special needs kids and loving mate, so she breaks genre barriers; dabbling in horror, straight fiction and urban fantasy.  She loves historicals and romance, and characters who are real and flawed, so she writes to understand what makes her fictional people tick.  And she lives for a happy ending – eventually. And enough twists to make it look like she enjoys her title of Queen of Trauma Drama a little too much.

An ADD tendency leaves her with a variety of interests that include singing, dancing, crafting, cooking, and being a photographer. She fights through the struggles of the day, knowing the battles are her crucible; she may emerge scarred, but always stronger.  The rhythms to her activities drive her words forward, pushing her through the labyrinths of the heart and the nightmares of the mind, driving her to find resolutions to her characters’ problems.

While busy creating worlds and characters as real to her as her own family, she leads an active online life with her blog, Redefining Perfect, which gives a real and sometimes raw glimpse into her life and art.  You can most often find her popping out her 140 characters in Twitter speak, and on Facebook.

Read a sneak peek from WICKED SEXY:

For a moment Connor just examines my face in silence. There’s a strange tension in him, a stillness, like a held breath but in his entire body. Then he abruptly swings around in his seat so he’s facing me, his massive thighs on either side of my bar stool, his booted feet planted on the floor.

Trapping me.

“What do you think you’re doing?” I ask, my voice high with panic.

“Got something to say to you. It’s important, so don’t talk until the end.”

He looks dangerously intense. His dark eyes are heated, drilling into mine. His cheeks are flushed from the fire, or from something else, but I don’t have time to think about what that something else might be because he opens his mouth and starts to speak, and my brain faints dead away, leaving me to fend for myself.

“I want you. Bad. Don’t know exactly why, you’re a complete pain in my ass and pretty much the most contrary, foul-tempered woman I’ve ever met, and you’ve made it really clear what you think about me, but every time I look at you I have an almost overpowering urge to touch you, kiss you, do a lot of bad things to you, and I don’t know how to manage it. Yeah, it might be more prudent for me to keep this shit to myself, but I know that when you don’t talk about shit it festers, gets worse, and if the way I feel about you gets any worse I won’t be able to put my goddamn shoes on in the morning. So I’m putting it out there.”

He takes a breath. Deeply shocked, I stare at him with my mouth open, my heart up in my throat.

“We’re both professionals. We have a job to do. And I don’t mix business with pleasure. Ever. But the way I figure it, we’ve got one more night until the work actually starts, and if I don’t do something to get you straight in my head I won’t be able to do the job at all.”

He stops abruptly. Then he waits, watching me with unwavering intensity as I attempt to digest what just happened.

I whisper in disbelief, “You’re propositioning me?”

His gaze drops to my lips. When he looks back into my eyes, his own are burning. “You liked that kiss.”

He gives me time to deny it, but I don’t. How could I? We both know I’d be lying.

He adds, “And you called me hot, so I know you don’t think I’m a complete troll, even though you act like you do.”

“That was an accident.”

“Yep.” He nods. “And you fuckin’ hated yourself for it. Which is why I know it was true.”

Things are happening in my body. My nipples harden, my breath quickens, there is a distinctive throb and ache between my legs. All because this jarhead I hate just told me he wants to do bad things to me.

Bad things. Dear God, were any two sexier words ever spoken?

Our legal team was spending countless hours gathering as much evidence to ensure a win. It was also the same day I’d gotten the bad news about my inability to conceive a child. I was out of sorts, unable to stay focused with such a burden on my mind. Ben was the first to notice, and suggested I head into my office and take a break for a little while. It wasn’t uncommon for my associates to stay overnight during this process; so most of us had at least a couch in our office for such times. I knew I’d be of little help to them in my current state, but I wasn’t prepared to go home and tell Frank the terrible devastating news. I’d only been asleep for a few hours when I woke to the sound of a loud bang. I sat up and looked around my dark office to find I was still alone. I got up and first peeked down the hallway to discover it was also dark and vacant.

I followed the sounds of muffled voices until I came to Ben’s office. We all had windows with mini-blinds on them, which most of us kept closed for privacy. At the same time I reached for the handle to open his door, I watched something crash into the metal blinds. It was definitely a body, and once I came to my senses I realized it wasn’t in violence. I heard laughing before backing away from the door. Next came the sounds of two people in the act of fornicating.

I’m in such shock I’m unable to move. My body remains in the same position as I listen in amazement. That’s when I get my first inclination that this isn’t a one on one encounter. I hear another man’s voice and then a higher pitched female. The men are talking to one another about switching. This heightens my interest, and as I loom in to peer through a small wedge of window blind, I’m struck with awe over what I find.

A brunette female dressed in full leather stands in the corner. Her breasts are busting out of the top of the corset. She has a camera in her hand and keeps her eyes fixed on Ben and the blonde. A petite redhead pulls another male close to them and begins making out with him only to shove him away. I place my hand over my mouth as I continue to stare through the tiny fold. This has to be a dream, I tell myself. There is no way my boss would be involved in such mischief at the office. He’s not this kind of man. He wouldn’t dare do this.

But as much as I want to believe it’s not real, I know I can’t deny what is unfolding in front of me.

The woman in the leather tells them to switch and both men stand at attention. I watch as they fall to their knees and await her to approach. She takes one of her feet and shoves Ben down on his back before proceeding to sit on his face. Then she pulls the blonde he was banging closer in order to taste her.

I have to turn away. I feel hot and bothered, but also wretched and ashamed. This is inappropriate. I’ve been married long enough to know this is something I’d never partake in. Foursomes. Orgies. Seeing this unfold was enough to make me question looking for a new job.

I called out sick that next morning to see if I could shake the uncomfortable feelings enough to be able to face him in the office.

The following day he stopped me in the parking lot before I could rush in and hide behind piles of paperwork. He was calm and collected, making me feel as if he had no clue what I’d witnessed, up until he spoke.

“Did you like what you saw the other night? For someone who claims to be straight and narrow I got the inclination you wished you could join us.”

I shake my head and begin to walk away, as if I can distance us enough to halt the conversation. “I have no idea what you’re talking about, Ben.”

He hasn’t followed me, but as I turn to double check I see him standing tall with his hands in his pockets. The grin on his face says it all. “I like when people watch, Mrs. Stone, especially the ones who claim to be off limits.”

I have no idea what makes me spin around and rush toward him. “How dare you imply that I was anything but disgusted? You’re sick!”

“You’re in denial.”

For a moment we stare into each other’s eyes. He’s focused and relaxed, while I’m shaking so badly I know he can see. “I’m going to pretend this conversation never happened, because as far as I’m concerned I want it wiped from my memory. Do us both a favor and give up. I’m happily married, Ben. I’m not interested in fooling around with my associate.”

“You know where to find me when you change your mind, and trust me, Macy, you will.”
