Review – Going Down Fast by Carly Phillips

This book was great!  Going Down Fast is the second book in the Billionaire Bad Boys Series (you don’t have to read book 1 in the series to enjoy this book, but I recommend it, nonetheless).  Lucas and Maxie are the hero and heroine featured in this book and I have to tell you, they have amazing chemistry.  A geeky and shy teenager no more, Lucas is now a man but no matter his age, he has always loved Maxie.  His adolescence has shaped Lucas into the man he is today and that man wants to protect and take care of Maxie, who married his brother.  After the death of his brother (and an absolutely heartbreaking situation that devastates Maxie and changes her forever), Lucas steps up for Maxie, who desperately needs help but really doesn’t want to ask for it.  I love how Lucas treats Maxie.  He shows her how much he cares for her and how different things can be with him, as opposed to his brother (who was a complete and utter douchebag of the first order).  Maxie wants to depend on no one, especially a man.  She is kind and sweet but I loved her strength the most.  She faces a situation at the beginning of this book that would cripple me for life but she finds a way to move on and try to make the best of her life.  She is a character I admired greatly and I loved how she went head to head with Lucas, standing up for herself and her wants and needs.  Together these two characters find a perfect balance.  There is still someone out there that had dealing with her deceased husband who are making things quite problematic for them but they find a way to navigate through the problem while trying to find their footing with each other.  Their passion is incendiary and I had to stop reading a few times just to cool myself off.  Going Down Fast was a delightful read that had a little bit of everything….second chances, love, hot sex, laughter, and suspense. I was entertained and engaged from the beginning and the plot is fast paced and believable.  I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Would I recommend this book?  Yes
