Review – Cuffed by K. Bromberg

I was completely FLOORED when I read this book!  My head is still spinning…first because it has sensitive subject matter in which I normally shy away from and secondly, it has an undertone that is darker than I usually prefer in my books.  However, the voice of Ms. Bromberg is so compelling and her storytelling is so dynamic, I was sucked in and I could not put Cuffed down!  Grant, our hero, is so amazing…I was just overwhelmed with how much this man loved Emmy.  Having been witness to the darkest days of Emmy’s life, Grant thought the little girl who was his best friend was gone form his life forever….until she returns to town and he vows to be a part of her life, no matter what it takes.  He is fierce in his need for Emmy, pulling out all stops to get  her to face him and their past while moving onto a future in which they live happily-ever-after.  He doesn’t count on Emmy being so stubborn and fierce.  Emmy, well, everything about her broke my heart and reshaped it…more than once.  She was strong and proud and just keeps moving forward, which is difficult given the past she has endured.  She is Grant’s equal in every way but it determined to hold a grudge against Grant for actions that changed her life for the best and the worse.  These two have so much passion it practically leaps off the page and saturates your reading device.  It’s that chemically combustive!  I about fell over with the raw sensuality of their passion and the eroticism put forth.  I still can’t catch my breath over a week later.  I see this cover and I swoon all over again.  Now, don’t be fooled…the path to happily-ever-after is not easy for Grant and Emmy. It is very emotional and intense and I can guarantee you that you will need a box of Kleenex and maybe a counselor on standby (ok…fine, not the counselor, but definitely a good hug after).  I simultaneously wanted to beat the crap out of both of them and wanted to cuddle them better.  This book evokes so many emotions I was literally spent at the end….and then I wanted to read it again!  We have the angst of their relationship coupled with the charming antics of Grants brothers and his beloved parents.  Their scenes were refreshing and added extra charm to this book….not to mention make you anxious to have his brother’s stories told.  We even have a sleezy-slimeball of a character who holds Emmy’s future in his hands and is a complete and utter A**hole in the process.  Emmy has some great friends she works with that liven up this book, not to mention her pistol of a best friend…all of who teach Emmy about family and love.  Overall, I couldn’t put Cuffed down…it was full of everything in a book I never knew I wanted and I’m excited to see what Ms. Bromberg has in store for the next book in this series!  Again, I will state that subject matter in this book features a storyline that may be difficult for some readers to embrace but if you can, I suggest you try this book as you venture into darker waters than you are used to.  It’s worth the fear.   5 stars.

From the New York Times bestselling author, K. Bromberg, comes a new series about three brothers, the job that calls them, and the women who challenge them.

“I hate you. I never want to see you again.”

Grant Malone is not the reason I moved back to Sunnyville—at least that’s what I tell myself. Yet, those parting words I said to him back in third grade, ring in my ears every time a townsperson brings up one of the Malone boys. I thought time had healed my wounds. I was wrong. Nothing could have prepared me for how I felt when I finally saw him again.

Twenty years does a lot to turn a boy into a man. One who hits all my buttons—sexy, funny, attractive, and a police officer. But Grant is off limits because he knows too much about my past.

But I’m drawn to him. That damn uniform of his doesn’t hurt either. It’ll be my downfall. I know it.

What’s one night of sex going to hurt . . . right?

 I’ve always loved Emmy Reeves.

That’s why I’m shocked to see her all these years later. The shy girl I once knew is all grown up.

Adventurous and full of life, she owns my heart now, just as much as she did back then. Convincing her of that is a whole different story.

I’ll give her the one night she asks for—like that’s a hardship—but when it comes to letting her walk away after, she has another thing coming. There’s no way in hell I’m letting her go this time without a fight.
