Review – Whiskey Secrets by Carrie Ann Ryan

I have been very excited about the Whiskey and Lies series and I swooned when I woke up and this little gem was awaiting me on my Kindle.  Once again, Ms. Ryan does NOT disappoint.  Whiskey Secrets is a flawless series opener and I could barely put my device down long enough to function in the real world, until I finished it from start to finish.  Our hero, Dare, likes his steady and predictable life.  But when his parent’s bring in a new innkeeper, you really get a taste of how much he really doesn’t like change….like AT ALL!!!!  However, I like that Dare is very vocal about this happening but acclimates quickly.  I was worried he was going to act douchey for the entire book.  Snarkiness about the new hire aside, I adored Dare! He is as alpha male as they come, but in a subtle and seductive way.  And I can’t even describe how hot his dirty, dirty mouth is.  YUMMY!  Kenzie, our heroine, has come to town to run Dare’s parents inn and she is bringing some pretty dirty laundry with her (metaphorically speaking, of course).  Kenzie is pretty fantastic.  She is bold and fierce, but not in a way that makes her unlikable.  She is the best friend you wish you had and the woman you want to be.  Her character made me laugh and cry and my heart broke for her several times simply because them men in her life suck!  Dare and Kenzie have an immediate attraction that neither of them can deny.  Their chemistry is explosive and the passion practically leaps off the pages.  Sure, they fight it for a time but with this heat, it’s inevitable.  But Dare senses that something is going on with Kenzie and when she confides in him what that is….well, lets just say, Dare is the man to have in your corner.  I didn’t think I could love him more, but he just got better and better.  The sex scenes were erotic and mind-blowing and so good you practically need a cigarette yourself after reading them.  The plot was engaging and addictive, the secondary characters intriguing and fun, and the bad guys….they are SUPER BAD!  Truly, I wanted to crawl into my device and whoop some a** myself!  I honestly enjoyed every single word of Whiskey Secrets and I’m salivating over the next book in this series.  I didn’t think it could get better than The Montgomery Ink Series, but I’m pretty sure Ms. Ryan has out done herself with the Whiskey and Lies Series.  5 stars!!!
