Review – The Bitterroot Inn by Devney Perry

Review:

I am utterly and completely wrecked!  Why, oh why does this have to be the end of one of the most amazing series I have ever read?!?!  Because, sadly, all good things must come to an end, but what a breathtaking ending this is!  The Bitterroot Inn, the much anticipated finale to the Jamison Valley Series (ok, by this blog, at least) was the crowning jewel on an overflowing tiara!  It shines so brightly you almost forget how spectacular everything that came before it was.  We finally get Maisy’s story and I was blown away by how beautiful it was.  It’s the ultimate love story full of hope, love, and overall, forgiveness.  Maisy is the gold standard of heroines.  She does what she has to do to make life full and bright for her young son, despite the hand of cards she has been dealt.  She is strong and fierce and brave…and a far better human being than anyone I’ve ever read about.  Little does she know, the newest resident of the town and current occupant of her hotel has a secret that will blow everyone away.  I fell in love with Hunter immediately.  He is everything in a hero you would want, plus the added bonus of being a fantastic father….to a child who isn’t even his.  Yep…my ovaries exploded!  He turns out to be the white night that Maisy absolutely didn’t need, but she got anyways…which just proves good things come to those who wait.  Their chemistry is off-the-charts explosive and their connection is both erotic and emotional.  Once the secret that Hunter shares becomes public knowledge, and saves the day, Maisy has to decide just how much she loves Hunter and it’s a true act of bravery and forgiveness when she finds the answer.  There is a little bit of angst and a whole mess of drama but this book moved me to tears more so than any other book in the series.  Overall, the plot was flawless, the characters utter perfection, and the love story….well that will go down in the record books as one of the greatest of all time.  This quirky little town and all of it’s occupants is the perfect slice of pure Americana and I felt like I was among family while reading this series.  What a brilliantly crafted world Ms. Perry has written!  There was simply nothing about this book in which I can complain as I cherished every word.  I can’t wait to see what Ms. Perry brings to the table in the future, but in the meantime, this is one series in which I am happy to re-read over and over.  5 stars!

Genre: Contemporary Romance

About The Bitterroot Inn:

Her past. His secrets. They have more in common than she knows.

Maisy is happily content with the life she’s built for herself and her young son in small-town Prescott, Montana. Her child is thriving, her business is growing, and her family is as close as they’ve ever been. But when a handsome stranger walks into the lobby of her motel, her simple life is swept up in a wave of affection for his gentle heart. None of those feelings can be trusted, though. She made that mistake before with another man. The man she murdered.

Hunter was a different man when he first saw Maisy Holt from afar. He took one look at her and ran in the opposite direction. But years later, he’s back in Montana and unable to keep his distance. He shouldn’t have tried to find her but he never was good at rejecting temptation. The promise of the good she could bring into his life is too hard to resist. Maybe if he can disguise the lies and hide the deceit, he can keep her from learning the truth. Because his only chance at a future with her is by burying his past.
