Review – Mr. Wicked by Maya Hughes

Mr. Wicked was wickedly good.  I will admit, it took me a minute to warm up to the heroine, Frankie, but the hero, Grim…now he is definitely dreamy.  I adored him.  Frankie and Grim have known each other since high school and have a mutual best friend in which they are co-best men at the wedding (yes, Frankie is a woman, but hey, I loved how the author made her be the co-best man)!  These two have a history that makes their relationship shaky in the best of scenarios but surprisingly they pull it together and get along for the wedding.  Frankie is not your typical heroine.  She’s a nerd (love this) and into quiet nights at home with video games, binge-watching TV, and wearing comfy clothes.  She was difficult for me to like at first,  not because of this but because of the way she reacts to some situations, almost immature, if you will.  But, I did warm up to her and found I really liked everything about her.  I was surprised to learn about her night-time job. Talk about a complete 180 from her daytime persona.  Now Grim, he’s her perfect partner, even if she doesn’t quite realize it yet.  He pulls out all the stops to win over Frankie.  It was both sweet and hot!  Really, this man can put on a first class date.  But he seems to genuinely want to do everything he can to make Frankie not only happy, but make her realize she is the only thing he has ever really wanted.  However, there is some miscommunication and misinterpretations and an even bigger surprise awaiting these two and I was entertained the entire time they tried to figure the other out.  The plot kept me engaged and guessing (I love a little unpredictability in my books).  The sex scenes were phenomenal with both a mixture of eroticism and emotion.  There is a little bit of angst, some alpha-male posturing, and even a sprinkling of humor.  Overall, I really enjoyed Mr. Wicked and I’m looking forward to the next book by Ms. Hughes, who is a new-to-me author.  4.5 stars!

Author: Maya Hughes
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: February 8, 2018

She’s hated me since high school…
Francesca “Frankie” Archer is the smart mouthed rich girl who worked her way into my heart back in high school. Our one date turned into a nightmare and we’ve been at each other’s throat since. Now, she’s a sex club owning hottie who still looks better
in shorts and a tshirt than any woman should.
We need to be civil to each other as co-best men standing up for our best friend at his wedding. How hard can that be? But old feelings, a few cocktails and shared hotel suite later and I’m touching her in ways no other man has.
In the light of day, she’s ready to chalk it up to a drunken one night stand, but I’m not ready to end things just as they are beginning again. Maybe I can convince her, if I can show her everything I’ve learned since we’ve been apart. I know she’ll look
amazing with the soft ropes crisscrossed across her body.
Mr. Wicked is a 55,000 word second chance, accidental pregnancy romance. It features a sassy sex club owner, sweet and sexy bondage enthusiast and a heaping
helping of steamy nights.
