Review – Sweet Time by Nina Lane

This was my first Nina Lane book and what a sweet treat it was.  Good enough that I went back to purchase other books by her as her writing style is both sweet, sassy, and deliciously sexy!  Sweet Time is the story of Mia Donovan and Gavin Knight….characters previously introduced in the Sugar Rush Series (yes, you can read as a stand alone but from this book, I know I now want to read the previous books as I’m fascinated by this series).  Gavin, our hero, is a security specialist and pretty much sex on a stick….a stick that, at first, I thought was shoved up his a** because of his intense personality.  Turns out Gavin is about as heroic as they come and is so alpha male I half expected him to drag Mia around by her hair with a club in the other hand while grunting “MINE” (trust me when I say, I don’t think she would have minded that either).  I adored him and his very complex personality.  And as for Mia, our heroine…well, this girl is as vivacious and bubbly as they come.  She flits through life as if she sees glitter and rainbows everywhere and has such a huge heart, you almost miss the fact that although she seems happy, she is more lonely than you can imagine.  It took me a bit to warm up to her as she seemed almost too sweet and flirtatious, and even a little bit vain about her appearance…but when you read between the lines you will fall in love with her and all the things that make her so effervescent.  She’s been trying for a year to catch the eyes of Gavin and when circumstances arise that force them to work side by side, Gavin’s well hidden attraction to Mia becomes something he can no longer deny.  These two have chemistry that is extremely intense…the pheromones these two were giving off practically poured out of my Kindle.  The are like night and day in the way the go through life but in each other they find the other half of their soul they didn’t know they were missing.  This couple has some very witty banter and their relationship is anything but easy but you can’t fight fate and when they come together it’s mind blowing.  The sex scenes were tasteful yet decadent and their quiet intimate moments were full of honest emotion.  The plot was well written and flowed smoothly.  There are enough secondary characters featured that you definitely want to go back and start at the beginning of the series so you can see how they each got their happily ever afters.  There is some intrigue and suspense…just enough to make the story interesting but not too much to deflect from the real point of the story.  Overall, I very much enjoyed reading Sweet Time and I look forward to reading more of Ms. Lane’s books. 4.5 stars.

Stuck in a boring insurance job, vivacious Mia Donovan has spent the last few years searching for her life’s true path. She fills her time helping plan the wedding of her best friend to the CEO of the Sugar Rush Candy Company.

Mia has also been trying to attract the impossibly rigid Sugar Rush security chief Gavin Knight. But for well over a year, the unyielding Mr. Knight has ignored her, despite her short skirts, tight sweaters, and patently obvious flirting. And when he finally approaches her, it’s only to assess the wedding plans for potential security risks.

A former soldier, Gavin has intercepted hostile anonymous letters threatening the high-profile wedding. Determined to keep everyone safe, he’s forced to work with the maddeningly sexy Miss Donovan of the thousand-watt charm and irresistible body.

Irked by Gavin’s many months of disregard, Mia takes her teasing flirtations to a whole new level. But her coquettish ways are no match for the edgy, lust-fueled dominant he conceals behind his impassive exterior. And when Gavin exerts his full control, Mia discovers he can protect everything except her heart.

A smile curved her mouth. She stretched one leg over him and straddled his waist. With her nipples poking out of her bra, her skin flushed and her hair a waterfall of gold, he could have stared at her for hours if he weren’t about to implode with lust. He pinched her rosy nipples and twisted the strap of her bra.

“Take this off,” he ordered. “I want you naked.”

She shed her bra, revealing her perfect round breasts. She braced her hands on the mattress and leaned in to kiss him deeply, her tongue tracing the line of his lips. He slid his hands down to grasp her ass, working one finger between her cheeks. She inhaled sharply, but didn’t protest, arching her back like she wanted more.

He’d give her more. And despite her willingness, it might be more than she could handle. More than she could take.

“Wait,” she whispered, wiggling back so she was straddling his thighs. “Where are the condoms?”

“Drawer in the nightstand.”

She reached over to retrieve one and took her sweet time sheathing his dick. By the time she was done, his teeth were clenched from the light, tickling touch of her fingers.

He grasped her hips. “Ride me.”

Mia bit her lip, a flush rising to her cheekbones. For a second he thought she’d decline, but she lifted herself up, her hand circling the base of his cock as she positioned herself.

Then she sank onto him, and the world exploded into the hot, tight clench of her pussy, the sound of her low groan, the clench of her knees around his hips. A flash of pain crossed her face before it was replaced with heavy lust. Heat sizzled through the air. She curled her fingers into his chest and started to move.

“Oh my God.” Her breath grew fast, her astonished gaze still holding his. “I feel you so deep, all the way up here.”

She pressed one hand to her belly and shifted again, working her gorgeous body up and down on his cock. He dug his fingers into her hips. His jaw clenched to the point of pain. He fought the urge to thrust, to drive them both to the edge. She was a fucking goddess, her tits bouncing, her body flexing and writhing, sweat glistening on her skin.

“Faster.” He bit out the order, his blood on fire.

She leaned forward, her hair falling in curtains on either side of her face, her little panting breaths puffing against his neck. Her eyes darkened with hunger and urgency.

“I need it, Gavin,” she whispered, her teeth capturing her lower lip again. “I need to come with you inside me, hard and deep and… oh God…”

“That’s right.” He grabbed her waist and thrust upward, needing to be inside her as far as he could. “Get yourself off… Christ, you’re incredible, all soft tight heat… you’re going to jerk me off, cover your little pussy with my come…”

A shudder rocked through her. She braced her hands on his chest and moved faster. Breathy cries came from her parted lips.

“I want you to do it first,” she gasped, sliding up and down his cock like a well-oiled piston. “Mark me.”

She moved off him before he could stop her, her chest heaving as she slid back to sit on his thighs. She rolled the condom off his erection and stroked, her tapered fingers moving up and down his aching shaft, her thumb caressing the swollen crown.

“Do it, Gavin.” Her voice was husky and threaded with anticipation. “Come on my pussy. Give me everything you have.”

“Ah, shit.” Every part of him tensed. Fiery pressure built. He gripped her smooth thighs and thrust into her fist. “So goddamned close… harder… now… .fuck.”

Heat exploded through him, jets of come splashing over her belly. She gasped, her fist still working his dick until the sensations ebbed. He groaned, sinking against the pillows.

“That’s so fucking sexy,” she whispered, releasing him only to slide her fingers through the mess coating her skin. “I love how you feel on me.”

“Get yourself off for me.” He stroked his hands up and down her smooth, damp thighs. “I want to watch you.”

Shivering, she slipped one hand between her legs and brought the other to her breasts. She twisted her pink nipple and worked her fingers on her clit. Much as he wanted to delve his fingers into her slippery heat again, he restrained himself from reaching for her.

He couldn’t take his eyes off the sight of her touching herself, her body sleek and soft. She threw her head back, her hair spilling over her shoulders. Moaning, she moved her fingers more frantically, her body tensing with need.

“Gavin,” she gasped. “I feel it… I still feel you… oh God, I’m going to… ah!”

A high, keening cry broke from her throat as her body shook, her hand still rubbing her clit. Fucking gorgeous sight, spearing him with fresh lust.

“Oh fuck.” She groaned, collapsing on top of him in a hot, sweet bundle of softness. “That was amazing. My ass is still sore from your hand, and I swear that made me come even harder.”

He gave a short laugh. Yeah, he’d lost the battle all right. He was about to lose the whole fucking war. And never before had he wanted to surrender.

Review – Most Valuable Playboy by Lauren Blakely

Well…I have read very little by Lauren Blakely and shame on me because Most Valuable Playboy was FABULOUS!!!  Yep.  With all caps!  I adored this book.  It was like a slow session of foreplay that was both sweet and spicy.  I loved it.  Cooper and Violet were fantastically written characters.  Now, normally I don’t like books where we only get one characters POV but in this case, it worked!  Cooper is our, for this season, celibate leading man and he is in charge of getting his football team to the playoffs.  Violet, his lady-love, happens to be his life-long friend and the sister of his best friend.  That hooked me immediately because it’s one of my favorite tropes.  The best part of this….the brother is in the know (ok….to an extent) so there isn’t so over-blown “I hate your guts”‘ drama that is involved between the two friends.  So Violet swoops in and saves Cooper from a very uncomfortable situation at a bachelor auction and this provides Cooper the opportunity to see Violet as someone other than his best friend’s kid sister (and hairdresser, as she is apparently a pretty kick-ass one).  Violet rocks as a female heroine.  She is fun and sassy and not afraid to call Cooper on his crap.  She is pretty kind too!  And, from the beginning you get the feeling that this whole “friends” situation between them may mean a little more to Violet than she is letting on.  Together these two seem to be more in sync than couples who have been married for years.  Their banter and easy camaraderie made me chuckle more than once.  I love it when our hero and heroine have this kind of history! But, exactly how well they are in sync shocks Cooper.  However, he’s taken a vow of chastity for the season and he’s starting to feel things…..OK, I won’t go from there but their chemistry is unbelievable!  They click on so many levels and as a reader, I was hooked from paragraph one!  They don’t jump immediately into bed nor is this an instant “I gotta have you for the rest of my life” moment from page one.  It’s a slow but steady build over a gradual time span.  It gives the book a feeling of complete realism that I really loved.  There are some pretty hot and erotic moments, do not get me wrong and the climax OH MY GOD!  Yes, it’s safe to say Most Valuable Playboy made me swoon, laugh, sigh, and with out a doubt, soaked my panties!  There are some great secondary characters that I hope get their stories told, an engaging and fresh plot that holds your attention from beginning to end, and just enough tension to keep you guessing “will he, or won’t he”….not gonna tell you the “what” of that equation.  You are going to have to read this yourself to find out.  This book was breathtaking and entertaining!  I can’t wait to read the next book by Ms. Blakely.  She is a fun and witty author who I have sadly been missing out on.  I see myself adding to my already overfull TBR pile!  5 stars!

Hands down, my favorite thing in the world is to score. Touchdowns.

Don’t let the fact that I’m the leading pick in the Most Valuable Playboy charity auction fool you. These days, I’m only a player on the field. I’ve kept my pants zipped all season long — and it has been long — because nothing’s more important than leading my team to victory every week. Except maybe escaping from the team owner’s recently-widowed and handsy-as-hell sister who’s dead set on winning more than a date with me.

Enter Violet and a well-placed Hail Mary.

She’s my best friend’s sister with a smile as sweet as cherry pie and a mind that runs quicker than the 40-yard-dash. After Violet saves the day with the highest bid, I don’t even give her a two-minute warning before I kiss her in front of the whole crowd and then announce that she’s my girlfriend. Which would be fine except my agent tells me we have to keep up the act while he’s negotiating my contract.
Violet takes one for the team and pretends to be mine, but our boyfriend-girlfriend scrimmage quickly turns into a full contact sport, and I want it to go into overtime. The problem is — I’ve been riding the bench for years.

How can a guy like me, who finally has a chance to prove his worth on the field, convince the girl she’s most valuable to his heart?

MOST VALUABLE PLAYBOY is a brand new standalone sports romance written in the guy’s POV!

Review – The Beauty of Us by Kristen Proby

I adored this book!  This is a wonderful series by Ms. Proby and I’m quite addicted to it.  However, this book was probably one of my favorites of the series!  Riley is a brilliant co-owner of Seduction, a restaurant that is now so popular they are doing a TV piece on it.  She is quite smart and strong but not very lucky at love.  So she is pretty floored with how wonderful Trevor seems to be.  Trevor is the perfect gentleman.  And to prove to Riley that not all men are douchbags, he sets out to win her.  I have to tell you, it’s pretty awesome.  He’s like a best friend and sex buddy all rolled into one gloriously hot package.  Riley is able to be herself with him and it’s very freeing for her.  But something neither of them expected to do was fall in love….because there is not way that could work with them living in different places.  I loved the dynamics of their relationship, how he proved to her over and over that he could be counted on.  But what I enjoyed even more was how unbelievably hot their chemistry was and that they both thought this would just be something temporary.  They were fooling themselves and it was great to watch them figure it all out.  I loved catching up with past characters and the storyline was fast paced and easy to follow along with.  While this book is part of a series, it absolutely can stand alone…but why would you not want to read the other books?!?!  There isn’t a lot of angst, which is great, just simply breathtaking storytelling with lots of emotions and a wonderful happily ever after.  I can’t wait for Mia’s story!  This book sets us up perfectly for it!  5 stars.

From New York Times bestselling author Kristen Proby comes a sexy, new standalone contemporary romance in her Fusion Series, THE BEAUTY OF US, releasing August 22, 2017! Order your copy today and get to know Trevor and Riley!

New York Times bestselling author Kristen Proby delivers another sizzling novel in her delectable and sexy Fusion series.

Riley Gibson is over the moon at the prospect of having her restaurant, Seduction, on the Best Bites TV network. This could be the big break she’s been waiting for. But the idea of having an in-house show on a regular basis is a whole other matter. Their lives would be turned upside down, and convincing Mia, her best friend and head chef of Seduction, that having cameras in her kitchen every day is a good idea is daunting. Still, Riley knows it’s an opportunity she can’t afford to pass on. And when she meets Trevor Cooper, the show’s executive producer, she’s stunned by their intense chemistry.

Trevor’s sole intention is to persuade Riley to allow Best Bites TV to do a show on her restaurant. But when he walks into Riley’s office, he stops dead in his tracks. The professional, aloof woman on the phone is incredibly beautiful and funny. But can he convince her that he’s interested in Riley for himself? Or is he using the undeniable pull between them to persuade her to agree to his offer?

Kristen was born and raised in a small resort town in her beloved Montana. In her mid-twenties, she decided to stretch her wings and move to the Pacific Northwest, where she made her home for more than a dozen years.

During that time, Kristen wrote many romance novels and joined organizations such as RWA and other small writing groups. She spent countless hours in workshops, and more mornings than she can count up before the dawn so she could write before going to work. She submitted many manuscripts to agents and editors alike, but was always told no. In the summer of 2012, the self-publishing scene was new and thriving, and Kristen had one goal: to publish just one book. It was something she longed to cross off of her bucket list.

Not only did she publish one book, she’s since published close to thirty titles, many of which have hit the USA Today, New York Times and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists. She continues to self publish, best known for her With Me In Seattle and Boudreaux series, and is also proud to work with William Morrow, a division of HarperCollins, with the Fusion Series.

Review – Love Another Day by Lexi Blake

OK…so normally, the way it goes, as a series goes on longer, it gets more boring and predictable, right?!?!  WRONG!  Because Lexi Blake has found something very few authors have managed….a kicka** way to suck you in, believable suspense, and couples so hot for each other they are nothing short of a miracle.  The Masters and Mercenaries Series is one of a kind and Love Another Day is a beautiful addition to this amazing series. Brody and Stephanie finally get their stories told and I have to tell you, it was one of the most gut-wrenching and emotional books of the entire series.  No joke…I laughed (because we get a lot of Tucker in this one and I love Tucker) and I cried and I yelled and then rejoiced.  There is nothing more moving and raw than a second chance and both Brody and Stephanie get one.  I adored Brody…he is like a big, cuddly teddy bear.  He is a bit stubborn but comes around pretty quickly and his introduction to the big “secret”….I LOVED IT!!!  It was so awesome, hilarious, but awesome.  Another huge plus…Brody is a fighter.  And he’s willing to fight for Stephanie and everything she represents.  It’s a good thing too because Stephanie has to be the most stubborn and self-sacrificing character I have ever read…IN MY LIFE!  She takes self-punishment to a whole new extreme, so much so that it did take me time to really enjoy her character in the beginning.  She won me over though.  I loved the chemistry between Brody and Stephanie.   I particularly enjoyed how easily he could read her every thought and need and how he eased her and her soul.   Their battle to be together is not easy.  But the outcome was amazing.  I don’t want to give away too much but I can tell you the sex scenes are over-the-top emotional and poignant and the suspense is killer.  There was an ending to beat all endings and I think this book, of all the books in the series, caused me to laugh and cry more simultaneously, than any others.  I enjoyed every breathtaking second of it and I love how the author repeatedly brings back previous characters so you can continue to catch up on this evolving series.  You can expect lots of fireworks and probably a headache from the tension.  Not to mention, you have no idea until the very end who the bad guy and good guy really is.  Have I told you yet how hot the sex is?  Yes?  Sorry, it’s worth repeating.  This book was flawless and I can’t wait to see what Ms. Blake has in store for us next.  If the teaser at the end wasn’t enough to whet your appetite, start this series back over at the beginning until the next book comes out.  There is nothing disappointing about it!  5 stars!

A man born to protect

After a major loss, Brody Carter found a home with the London office of McKay-Taggart. A former soldier, he believes his job is to take the bullets and follow orders. He’s happy to take on the job of protecting Dr. Stephanie Gibson while the team uses her clinic in Sierra Leone to bring down an international criminal. What he never expected was that the young doctor would prove to be the woman of his dreams. She’s beautiful, smart, and reckless. Over and over he watches her risk her life to save others. One night of pure passion leads him to realize that he can’t risk his heart again. When the mission ends, Brody walks away, unwilling to lose another person he loves.

A woman driven to heal

Stephanie’s tragic past taught her to live for today. Everything she’s done in the last fifteen years has been to make up for her mistakes. Offering medical care in war-torn regions gives her the purpose she needs to carry on. When she meets her gorgeous Aussie protector, she knows she’s in too deep, but nothing can stop her from falling head over heels in love. But after one amazing night together, Brody walks away and never looks back. Stephanie is left behind…but not alone.

A secret that will change both their lives

A year later, Stephanie runs afoul of an evil mercenary who vows to kill her for failing to save his son. She runs to the only people she trusts, Liam and Avery O’Donnell. She hasn’t come alone and her secret will bring her former lover across the world to protect her. From Liberia to Dallas to Australia’s outback, Brody will do whatever it takes to protect Stephanie from the man who wants to kill her, but it might be her own personal demons that could destroy them both.

The door slammed and she suddenly found herself with her back against it. Brody crowded in, taking up all the space and staring down at her. His body brushed hers and she found both her wrists captured in one of his. He dragged them over her head, forcing her chest to come out, breasts skimming along his body. “I shouldn’t do this.”

Tough chick was winning. Steph let her take over. It was surely better than the desperate girl who lived inside her. She kept asking for love and affection and getting swatted away. This was the next best thing, possibly the only thing she would ever get. “Then don’t. Let me go and I won’t bother you again.”

“No, you’ll go find Ezra Fain and bother him,” Brody said on a growl.

“Somehow, I don’t think he’ll find me a bother.” She’d barely spoken two words to the man, but she wasn’t going to admit it. It was better to let Brody think she wasn’t a love-starved girl.

“He won’t fucking find you anything at all. If you’re determined to not sleep alone tonight, you can damn well do it with me.” His mouth came down on hers and every inch of her skin came alive. His kiss was overwhelming, hungry. There was no slow meshing of mouths. He took her, his tongue surging inside and dominating her own. He let go of her hands and started to explore her body. His hands were on her hips when he came up for air. “I’m leaving in the morning. I’m going back to London and I can’t come back.”

She’d known that would probably be his answer. She’d known he wouldn’t want to stay and she couldn’t leave.

“One night. That’s all I want.” It was all she could have. It had been foolish to think it could be any different.

His mouth came down on hers again and she let herself get swept away. One night and her life would go back to normal. One night and then she would be alone again. His hands started to roam over her and she tried to forget all the reasons why this was a bad idea.

He stepped back, his entire body set in hard lines. He strode over to the bed and sat down. “Take off the gown. It’s pretty, but I want to see you.”

She hesitated, all her insecurities coming to the forefront. Somehow, she’d thought he would simply take her. “Let me get the lights.”

He was back in her space again, his hand wrapping around her wrist. “I didn’t say turn off the lights. I said take off the gown. How am I going to see you if you turn off the lights?”

“Brody,” she began.

He was having none of it. “You got on your knees in front of me and you said you knew what you were offering me. The first thing you were offering me was obedience. The second was your body. You’re giving me neither right now.”

His voice had gone midnight dark and something about the tone made her soften. He was right. She did know what she’d offered him and now she was trying to have it all her way.

There was nothing wrong with her body. It was feminine and she was healthy. What was she afraid of? “All right.”

He let go of her wrist and sat back down, looking like a damn king waiting on his concubine’s performance. For all his “I’m nothing but a grunt” talk, the man could be incredibly arrogant, and damn if she didn’t find it sexy as hell.

Something about that voice let her know that everything was going to be fine. He was past the point of rejection. He was in and that meant he would play her Dom for the night. He would take care of her. She was as safe with him in the bedroom as she’d been in the field.

At least she was safe for the night. In the morning she would be in a world of hurt, but she wasn’t thinking past tonight.

NY Times and USA Today bestselling author Lexi Blake lives in North Texas with her husband, three kids, and the laziest rescue dog int eh world. Earlier this year, Devney Perry exploded into the book world with her first book, The Coppersmith Farmhouse.  It was a beautiful and moving introduction to a brand new author.  I was immediately hooked.  Her latest addition to the Jamison Valley Series is no exception!  The Lucky Heart was phenomenal.  I have been excited for the story of Silas from the very beginning and Ms. Perry did not disappoint.  He was magnificent as a hero….kind, courageous, brave…and very much in love with Felicity.  He can’t even remember a time when he didn’t love her and the way he expresses this love completely wrecked me as a reader.  Now Felicity… heart broke for her.  Over and over, the burden she carried upon her shoulders brought me to tears.  She was such a strongly written character and when she finally broke, I wept.  And still, she kept marching on.  The journey that is Felicity and Silas was beautiful and poetic.  There was laughter, tears, and new beginnings.  The sex scenes were erotic yet tastefully done with just the right amount of heat and plenty of emotion.  The plot was fast paced and easy to follow along with and kept me entertained from the very beginning. There were a few moments of suspense and we have the perfect set-up for the next book to come.  You are even introduced to a couple new characters (can I just say, I loved Silas’ friend who pops in for a visit and decides to stay.  He’s a charmer, for sure)!  I had quite a few moments of gut-clenching laughter and even a moment or two of angst thrown in for spice.  Felicity is a firebrand and Silas is the hand that allows her to burn bright but not damage.  The integration of previous characters was wonderful and allows us to catch up with them and all that is going on in their lives as well.  Overall, this is a love story about forgiveness….for yourself and for the wrongs others have done to you.  The Lucky Heart was utter perfection and Ms. Perry is an author who can weave a beautiful story that will suck you in and leave you breathless.  I can’t wait for the next installment in this series! 5 stars!

About The Lucky Heart:

Life on his ranch could be their future. If they can overcome their past.

Felicity’s life story reads like the script to a bad soap opera. Girl’s high-school boyfriend becomes a drug addict. Girl falls for boyfriend’s best friend. Girl leaves them both behind only to return home years later for murdered ex-boyfriend’s funeral. Now she’s back home in Montana, ready to start fresh. She’s got a long list of amends to make and relationships to rebuild, including one with the man who has owned her heart for sixteen years.

Silas doesn’t need much. He’s got a great horse, close friends and the Lucky Heart ranch, but something has always been missing. He’s not an idiot. He knows the missing piece is Felicity. And now that she’s returned to Prescott, he’s got a second chance to win her heart. This time, the only thing standing in his way is history. Drudging up the past is going to be about as painful as playing tug of war with barbed wire. But if they can heal old wounds, he’ll get the girl he should have had all along.

Review – The Soul Mate by Kendall Ryan

Oh sweet baby Jesus!  I just can’t even tell you! GAH!  This book was unbelievable.  And the best part, it fit in with this series but it was completely different from the other books!  Like blow my mind, different!  This was me…….

Mainly because, the other books in this series followed a pattern.  I was comfortable with that because it worked on so many levels for me as a reader.  But Ms Ryan decided to throw in an extra-special element to this book…is she or is she not pregnant?  Let me tell you how amazing the journey to that discovery was.  We got to watch a couple get to know each other while wondering if they are having a baby.  Now, I can’t tell you why this is different because I really do not want to spoil this book.  The twist itself, other than the fact that he’s her OBGYN is going to remain my secret.  But rest assured…MY MIND WAS BLOWN.  And, I was hooked.  These two meet and it’s an instant connection.  Honestly, this author can write instant chemistry like no ones business.  “Soul Mate” at first sight is not a problem and it’s written so realistically, there really is no author with comparable talent.  But our heroine has a skewed perception about relationships and this does not bode well for our hero (who incidentally is super-hot and amazingly romantic).  Bren, our heroine, fascinated me.  From her job to the way she lived her life, everything about her was different and I found this to be such a refreshing change from the other heroines I’ve always liked.  Her take on relationships doesn’t extend past gratification and her reasons why are valid.  It didn’t make me like her any less, either.  Now Mason, he fell for Bren at first sight and when she scoots out before he can even get her number, he is not a happy camper.  It’s cramping his style and his friends notice.  It’s like the male and female characters swapped normal patterns in this relationship.  Quite entertaining! But one missed period later and our heroine finds herself in the offices of the cities most popular OB and their lives collide once again.  Now, I can’t tell you much more than that but what I can tell you is that the journey this author takes you on from there is better than the best roller coaster you’ve ever been on (or, for those of you faint at heart, the best lazy river you have ever relaxed in).  Getting to know someone on a soul deep level the way these two do was so beautiful.  I freaking LOVED it!  Gah!  And this ending!  Holy crap.  This book was so wonderful, I can’t even express it adequately!  At the end I couldn’t decide if I needed a Kleenex, a cigarette, or a shot of tequila….but I do know I needed new panties!  Loved, loved, LOVED this book!  I know you will too!  5 stars!  Ms. Ryan….bring on the next one because this blogger is ready….once she picks herself up from the floor!profile_2__faint_antebellum_lady_by_renfaire_gal-d4vdiuq

Review – My Hot Boss by Betty Shreffler

My Hot Boss was the first book I have read by Betty Shreffler and it will not be the last. When we meet our heroine, Emma, she is drinking away her troubles in a bar. Determined to leave with a man for the night, things start to go awry when she meets our hero, Grayson.  From there, the poor girl is finds herself entrenched in one embarrassing episode after another.  I really liked Emma.  She is fun and smart and very much tired of being treated like dirt by her boyfriends.  She is passionate about her job and her relationships with her friends are equally telling in how devoted and loyal she is to those around her.  Even better, her hilarious hijinks do nothing to dissuade Grayson. The poor man finds himself smitten from the very beginning.  Grayson was very hard for me to read at first….he was hot one minute and cool the next.  I have to say, it took me awhile to warm up to him.  But once I did, he was a pretty great guy.  They had some hot chemistry, on top of a great working relationship.  Surprisingly, Grayson had a sweet side I didn’t expect and alpha male tendencies that were a complete surprise! Together, the sparks between them are dynamite and the sex scenes were erotic and plentiful!  I love a hero with a dirty mouth and Grayson has a fabulous one. There is some angst and office shenanigans and one woman Emma worked with that was a complete witch!!!  The book held my attention the entire time and I was very satisfied with the ending.  Reading My Hot Boss was definitely a wonderful way to spend a weekend afternoon.  From beginning to end this book entertained me.  I am definitely looking forward to the next book by Ms. Shreffler and will be adding her past work to my reading library.  She has a real way with words that is both emotional and lighthearted.  Definitely an author to keep your eyes on. 4 stars.

Release Date: August 15, 2017

From the moment I met Grayson Cole, I knew he was someone I wanted to let in my panties and maybe, even in my heart. One night, one sexy-as-sin kiss, and several drinks later, our incredible evening turns into a disaster and I’m apologizing for the vomit spatter on his fancy, black shoes. I never thought I’d see him again after that, no matter how many nights I spent wishing I would. Until a month later, he waltzes into my office as—MY NEW, HOT BOSS. I’m so screwed.

She was meant to be a fun f*ck. That’s all I wanted. That’s all I needed. But Emma Williams could never be just that for me. The quirky, brunette vixen challenges me at every opportunity. My desire to have her has me working for her affections, like I’ve never done before. What is this woman doing to me? Not only am I her Boss, but I don’t do feelings. There’s only one way I see this ending. I’m f*cked for sure.

Betty Shreffler is a self-proclaimed nerd and nature enthusiast obsessed with folklore, photography, writing, reading, movies, board games, hiking, gardening and spending time with her husband and five fur babies. Not necessarily in that exact order though. During her outdoor adventures she’s been face to face with an alligator, a bear and a coyote, making for some of the most memorable experiences of her life. She loves to capture and share the world’s beauty through the lens of her beloved Nikon camera. Her work experience has been diverse from working as a Ranger for the National Park Service to management positions in Fortune 500 companies. She’s lived in four different states and moved homes twelve times. She received a BA in organizational management and minor in sociology, although her heart has always belonged to writing and photography. Growing up, she read romance or supernatural novels and jotted down poems and short stories to express her emotions and alleviate the characters’ voices in her head. Not much has changed, only now her stories are lengthier and her characters more interesting.
