Review – The Bed Mate by Kendall Ryan

Review:

Today’s confession….the friends to lovers trope isn’t one of my favorites.  But, I love Kendall Ryan so I decided to give this latest installment of her Room Mate Series at try and I’m so happy I did.  Ms. Ryan works it like a catwalk model and I loved every second of this story!  Sam and Maggie are best friends and have been for years.  But quietly, Sam has always known that no woman could ever measure up to the standards of Maggie and he would never jeopardize his friendship in that way.  Maggie is fresh off a break-up and Sam swoops in to her rescue.  And so….it begins.  I adored Sam and Maggie!  Individually and as a couple, they are dynamite!  Sam is kind and generous and accepts all the many facets of Maggie’s personality.  He knows her better than anyone and there is something so sexy about a man who knows a woman this intimately without being intimate with her.  He pulls out all the stops, not only to make her feel better but to maneuver her a position in which she can accept him as a lover, not just a friend.  I was utterly charmed by him.  Maggie worships Sam but when several people point out how perfect they are together, Maggie allows her mind to entertain thoughts of another type of relationship with Sam.  It was so romantic.  These two have some pretty amazing chemistry and when you couple that with the way they can read each other so well….it results in some pretty erotic fireworks!!!  Whew!  I’m surprised my Kindle survived the onslaught of heat!  Throw in a romantic getaway, a douchebag ex,  and a few good-natured friends, and you have a delightfully sinful story brimming with romance and smokin’ hot sex.  I definitely enjoyed reading The Bed Mate and once again, I can’t wait to see what Ms. Ryan has up her sleeves for her readers next.  5 stars.

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kendall Ryan comes a new story in her Room Mate series…

I might be a typical guy, but these last few years, my love life’s been anything but. From crazy ex-girlfriends to one night stands who are stage-five clingers, my relationships go bad faster than the milk in your fridge. The only constant has been my best friend Maggie.

Fresh off a bad breakup of her own, I invite Maggie to my guy’s skiing weekend knowing she needs an escape from reality. But then something funny starts to happen. I start noticing things about her that I never noticed before.

She’s beautiful and doesn’t know it, she’s funny without even trying, and now she’s suddenly single for the first time in forever.

Sharing a hotel room with her proves to be the tipping point in our very platonic friendship. Suddenly I want to put my hands, my mouth, and my … other parts … all over her gorgeous body. I want to claim her, make sure no man touches her ever again. But then her groveling ex shows up, and Maggie’s torn.

Am I ready to screw up the best relationship I’ve ever had for a shot at something more?

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

Every now and then, Sam would shoot me a sympathetic look, knowing that I had no idea what they were talking about, but in truth, their company was a welcome break. Between what the woman in the shop had said and the lady on the plane’s insinuation, my mind was going a mile a minute and I was beginning to look at Sam in a way I definitely shouldn’t be.

Okay, so, yeah, he was sexy. That was a no-brainer.

I shot him a furtive glance, taking in the corded muscles of his forearms and the lock of dark hair that constantly flopped onto his forehead. And sure, he was sweet and attentive. He looked after me and made sure I always had a fresh drink and that I wasn’t cold or hot. He held the door for me and pulled out my chair when we went to restaurants. Hell, he’d been looking forward to this trip for months and he’d sacrificed an entire day just to make sure I got here safe and didn’t spend my time sulking.

Still, that didn’t mean he had feelings for me. He hadn’t argued when I’d mentioned us being like brother and sister or anything.

No, this whole line of thinking was ludicrous. Sam was a good friend. That was all…wasn’t it?

After all, Trevor had loved me once and he never did any of that.

Admittedly, that wasn’t the best example, but it proved my point all the same. In Sam’s shoes, Trevor never would have missed the chance to hit the slopes with his friends. He hadn’t even skipped the business trip that fell on my twenty-fifth birthday years back.

But Sam was there, my brain supplied helpfully.

Again, not an indication that he had feelings for me. People were just different. Sam was one of the good ones. And if he liked me surely I’d have known by now. He’d have told me or…something.

“Is that your phone?” Sam turned to me and I blinked, only realizing that I’d been so encompassed in my own thoughts that I’d totally zoned out.

“What?” I asked, confused.

“Don’t you hear that vibrating noise? I think it’s your phone.”

I listened hard and then heard the low, gentle hum he was talking about.

“Yep, probably you-know-who again.” I sighed, but fished the phone from my tiny handbag all the same on the off chance it was a family member with an emergency.

It wasn’t Trevor, though. He had called—I had seven new missed messages from him since I’d left for the airport, but I also had three missed calls from my friend Deanna. I hadn’t spoken to her in more than two weeks because she’d been away on a long-awaited safari, but now more than ever I really needed to hear her voice.

Review – Too Close To Call by Tessa Bailey

Review:

Ok.  Too Close To Call definitely falls in the “New Adult” category, which is something I rarely read.  Mostly because I have a hard time relating to the maturity level of the characters in the books.  However, Tessa Bailey has a winner with this book!  I found myself pulled into a story that would normally never appeal to me and enjoying ever second of it.  From the moment Kyler realizes his heart was left back in his hometown to the very satisfying ending, I was enraptured, not only by the sweet and playful side of Kyler, but by the stoic but passionate side of Bree.  Kyler is great…a young man on the cusp of his burgeoning career but with the mindset of a mature man.  He knows what he wants and he does everything in his power to make that so.  Bree is his everything.  Bree herself knows that Kyler was the love of her life but she gave him up so he could have bigger and better things than she wanted for herself.  She never wanted to leave home and doesn’t crave attention or fame.  So imagine her surprise when Kyler swoops back into town, determined to win her heart all over again.  Their cat-and-mouse chase is both titillating and romantic.  Truly, both of these characters were amazing.  Every facet of their relationship was wonderful.  The sex scenes were not over-the-top nor did they take over the story, which sometimes happens in novellas.  This was the perfect blend of romance and eroticism with plenty of backstory to make you feel like you have been with them from the very beginning of their journey.  The ending was superbly written and left me both wanting to know more 10 years into their future and being completely satisfied.  Overall, I was thoroughly entertained and engaged from beginning to end.  This book is perfect for lovers of second-chance romance and new-adult romance.  4.5 stars.

Now he’s back in their Indiana hometown, refusing to leave for Los Angeles without her. Demanding she give their life together a shot. About Tessa Bailey:

Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans and laptop, driving cross-country to New York City in under four days.

Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.

She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband of eight years and four-year-old daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.

Shivering against him as she parted her lips to speak, Waverlee moaned as his tongue swept forward, stealing the opportunity to deepen their kiss. And holy moly, the man could kiss. And not just any old kiss either. It was the-steal-your-breath-I-can’t-live-without-his-touch-because-nothing-else-in-the-world-matters kind of kiss a girl spends her life dreaming about. Their tongues danced together for long minutes as everything else faded away. The people. The noise. Everything took a backseat to the fierce passion Shaw created with a simple touch of his mouth to hers.

Forcing herself to find her voice when Shaw lifted his mouth from hers to take a deep breath, Waverlee flashed a furtive glance up at his darkened eyes. “Wow,” she breathed shakily, clutching handfuls of his light blue dress shirt in her fists as the world seemed to spin at warp speed, “I..I…don’t think I’ve ever felt anything like that before,” she whispered, the words catching in her throat as his finger swept against her lower lip.

“Then you best hold on real tight to me, baby, ‘cause I’m just getting started,” he replied, dropping his head to steal another deep, wet kiss from her lips as he curved one big hand around her neck, wrapping her silky hair around his fist and tugging gently.

Seriously, I love pretty much everything the writing duo of Sarah O’Rourke writes and One More Night was no exception.  It was a very quick read….I read it in an hour, but what it is missing in length it makes up in both sugar and spice!  I love the chemistry between Shaw and Waverlee.  Shaw was definitely over-the-top alpha but he had such a sweet and romantic side when it came to Waverlee.  Now Waverlee…it took me a little while to warm up to her, I admit it.  I like my female leads to be bold and fearless with just a dash of subtle thrown in but Waverlee is so unsure of herself, it took me a minute to like  her.  But, I ended up really enjoying her as she came into  herself.  And the way she melted Shaw was amazing.  The plot was enjoyable and easy to follow and I enjoyed the injection of characters from Fiona Davenport’s Yeah, Baby Series.  The sex scenes were super hot and just about caused my Kindle to burst into flames.  Most of all, I enjoyed the emotion displayed between Shaw and Waverlee.  What can I say, you can’t go wrong reading anything thing by Sarah O’Rourke but throwing in some Fiona Davenport characters…pure beauty.  I recommend this book to those who like quick and dirty romance, insta-love, and ooops babies.  4 stars.

Release Blitz w/ Review – Sweet Rivalry by K. Bromberg

Review:

This book was short and sweet and full of chemistry between our hero, Ryder, and his nemesis, Harper.  Harper has always come out on top in everything, but one thing Harper always secretly wanted was Ryder.  Since she knows there is no way he lusts after her, she flees at the end of their graduate year and never looks back.    A new work project has brought these two competitors face to face and this time, Harper is determined that she will be the victor….and maybe receive a long sought after reward.  What neither of them counted on was the intensely deep connection they feel towards one another, something that neither time nor distance has touched.  Harper is strong and determined and has quite the sassy and witty mouth on her.  She gives Ryder a challenge, one he is eager to accept.  Ryder was an awesome hero…cocky and bold, deliciously dirty mouthed, and fair-minded and passionate about the things he wants.  He very much wants Harper and I about lost my shorts when these two finally succumb to the lust they are feeling.  Seriously…I’m surprised the didn’t burst into flames.  The sex scenes are erotic and titillating with the perfect blend of emotion and passion.  There is even a little bit of intrigue thrown in, to keep you even more engaged and entertained.  This was a fast paced and quick read full of great banter between the characters and an ending that left me fully satisfied.  I can’t wait to dive into more books by K. Bromberg.  If Sweet Rivalry is just a taste of her other books, I’ve been missing out on some fantastic reads!  4.5 stars

sweetrivRyder Rodgers had a plan.

He was going to stride into the conference room, do the required song and dance over the next five days, and win the biggest contract of his career. But when he walked in and heard the voice of one of his competitors, all his plans were shot to hell.

Harper Denton. She was always on top. In college. First in their class. Always using every advantage to edge him out to win the coveted positions. The only one who could beat him. His academic rival. More like a constant thorn in his side. And his ego’s.

When he heard her voice, he was brought back to years before. To the bitter taste of being second best. But the woman who meets his gaze is nothing like the drab wallflower he used to know. Hell no. She was all woman now: curves, confidence, and staggering sex appeal. And no doubt, still brilliant.

The fact that she’s gorgeous and bright won’t distract him. This time, Ryder’s determined to be the one on top. But not if Harper can help it.

And not just on mine––not just a brush of lips against lips—but I’m talking all in. Hands on my cheeks, tongue licking between my lips, body pressed against mine, groan in the back of his throat, type of all in.

I don’t react at first. I’m stunned. Flabbergasted, my mind reeling from the anger to the surprise to now this without any warning at all.

This is Ryder.

My rival.

My supporter.

My crush.

The thoughts flicker that this is what I’ve wanted. But they soon shift to panic. To insecurity I don’t kiss well enough. That this is all a joke and I’m the butt of it.

But then I feel. Everything. All at once.

And I know this is real.

It’s like I can’t catch my breath and have too much air all at the same time.

My body is on fire. And not just from his touch but from that burn deep inside that feels like it’s exploding and imploding all at once.

So this is what it feels like to really be kissed.

It’s a fleeting thought before the sensations, the moment, the emotions, consume me whole.

His hands move my face to change the angle of the kiss. His fingertips on the line of my jaw singe my skin. His lips move expertly against mine, and all I can do is feel. All I can do is want.

Thinking isn’t an option.

The anger from before has morphed to want. The adrenaline has recharged with desire.

There is no rivalry.

There is no graduation ceremony tomorrow I’m missing to catch my flight.

There is no panic over if I’ll ever see him again.

It’s just him.

And me.

The scent of his cologne in my nose. The heat of his body against mine. The taste of hunger in his kiss.

HeadShot ColorNew York Times Bestselling author K. Bromberg writes contemporary novels that contain a mixture of sweet, emotional, a whole lot of sexy, and a little bit of real. She likes to write strong heroines, and damaged heroes who we love to hate and hate to love.

She’s a mixture of most of her female characters: sassy, intelligent, stubborn, reserved, outgoing, driven, emotional, strong, and wears her heart on her sleeve. All of which she displays daily with her husband and three children where they live in Southern California.

On a whim, K. Bromberg decided to try her hand at this writing thing. Since then she has written The Driven Series (Driven, Fueled, Crashed, Raced, Aced), the standalone Driven Novels (Slow Burn, Sweet Ache, Hard Beat, and Down Shift), and a novella (UnRaveled). She is currently finishing up Sweet Cheeks a standalone novel out November 14th.

Her plans for 2017 include a sports romance duet (2 books: The Player, The Catch) and the Everyday Heroes series (3 books: Cuffed, Combust, and Cockpit). She’s also writing a novella for the 1,001 Dark Night series that will be out in February 2017.

Aiden had known the second he laid his eyes on that spectacular hourglass figure of hers that he wanted her. Of course he had. A man would have to be dead not to want to spend time between those gorgeous thighs, worshiping at those fantastic breasts while he fucked into what he’d bet was the tightest pussy in creation. Yes, his cock had screamed ‘MINE!’ the moment his gaze settled on her fine little body. But the second she’d turned and he’d seen her exquisite face for the first time… yeah, he’d been done. He’d known that woman would hold him – heart, mind, body, and soul.

There’d been no question at all.

He was claiming sweet Carolina for his own.

button-review

This book was erotic and FUN!  I loved both our hero, Aiden, and our heroine, Carolina.  Aiden is swoony and completely alpha male…not to mention HOT!!!  Carolina is smart and sassy and is new to Paradise, hoping for a whole new life (whew…bet she did’t see this new life coming from a mile away lol).  Well, Paradise never fails to roll out the welcome mats and Aiden stumbles upon Carolina before she can hit town limits.  Fireworks immediately go off for these two and what an amazing display it is to see.  Carolina is the perfect match for Aiden and he is what she has been searching for his entire life.  But can one simple misunderstanding derail these two love-birds?  All bets are off when love is on the line.  I loved the push and pull between the two of them, and I fell in lust with Aiden…how can you not.  He is completely over-the-moon for his girl from the moment he lays eyes on her!!!  The book was a quick read but chock full of the witty banter you can expect from the writing duo of Sarah O’Rourke.  There is plenty of emotionally charged, erotic sex, something Ms. O’Rourke excels at!   Claimed does feature insta-love and is fresh and fast-paced. There is even a little surprise twist thrown in the mix, which made this book even more enjoyable for me to read.  We see previous characters from the Paradise Series in this book, too!   I love visiting the town of Paradise and I can’t wait until these ladies bring us back for more.  Overall, this book was short but very enjoyable read and I highly recommend it to those who like to read novella’s, insta-love, and erotic romance with some humor sprinkled in.  4.5 stars!

REVIEW

There are very few books I haven’t liked by the writing duo of Fiona Davenport, but Play With Me, Baby just may be my favorite one to date!  Don’t expect a long drawn-out plot that is hard to comprehend or over-the-top drama that leaves you feeling weepy and tired…nope!  You can expect smokin’ hot sex, amazing chemistry between an uber-alpha hero and his sassy, smart leading lady.  Truly, I LOVED Rhys and Macy!  Rhys is controlled and rigid in his lifestyle..all work, no play makes Rhys a very dull boy!  Enter an coffee shop sighting of Macy, or plucky heroine, and Rhys’ very structured and controlled life shatter around him.  The best part….he shatters the glass himself!  I love how he pursues her from the second he lays eyes on her, and beyond.  My mind is further blown that our heroine gives a merry chase, and she’s a smart cookie to boot!  She stands up to him and questions him and gives him a run for his money!  These two are certainly a match made in heaven and the sparks between the two of them are incendiary.  I read erotic romance DAILY and still the sex between them was so raw and powerful, I blushed!  This book seriously sucked me right in (no joke, I started it while working out on an arc trainer at the gym and I was so engrossed, 45 minutes passed and I didn’t realize it until my machine cut off so thanks, ladies!).  It’s very short and fast paced with insta-love written all over it, but it packs an emotional punch, and I’m sure you will be as pleased with the ending as I was. What can I say, Fiona Davenport is my hero and I can’t wait for the next book in this series!  5 stars!

me was worried that she might have slipped and fallen in the bath or been a victim
of some other calamity. Flimsy excuse.
Quietly, I turned the knob on the door and pushed it
open. Her light was still on and a hasty glance at her bed showed it was empty.
“Macy?” I called, walking fully into the room. The bathroom light was on and the
door was wide open, so I padded over to it. Just as I reached the entrance, I
froze in mid-stride. Every nerve in my body coiled tight, unable to move.
Except my cock which was rapidly growing and hardening.
Macy was just slipping my shirt over her head and
before it fell, I got a glimpse of all that was underneath. High, rounded
breasts that would fit so well in my hands, pink nipples that made my mouth
water. A slender torso, nipped in waist, and a belly button that had my tongue
itching to lick around it. Her hips flared out just enough to be perfect for a
tight grip while she was thoroughly fucked from behind. Toned, sexy legs, and
my jaw practically dropped to the ground at the sight of her smooth, bare
pussy.
Son of a fucking bitch! I mentally screamed at the
fucking garment that was hiding all that perfection.

ABOUT FIONA DAVENPORT

Hello! My name is Fiona Davenport and I’m a smutoholic. I’ve been reading raunchy romance novels since… well, forever and a day ago it seems. And now I get to write sexy stories and share them with others who are like me and enjoy their books on the steamier side. Fiona Davenport is my super-secret alias, which is kind of awesome since I’ve always wanted one.
